a «Another result of» people spending too much time at their computers is that their health suffers. Sitting for long periods of time can hurt their eyes, cause headaches or damage their hands and arms. In some cases this means that people cannot do their jobs properly.(ص 16)

There is no doubt that computers are important in many workplaces. Employees use them for their jobs, but they may also want to use them for their own purposes. In this essay I am going to consider whether companies should allow this. In my opinion, some limited personal use could be allowed, provided that work remains the priority.
The main disadvantage of allowing personal use without limits is that people may spend too much time at the computer on activities unrelated to their jobs. The sample essay reminds us that spending too much time at computers can cause problems. A company should therefore make its expectations clear rather than leave employees uncertain about what is acceptable.
On the other hand, a complete ban may not be the only possible response. A company could decide what limited use it considers reasonable and explain that decision. This is a proposed approach, not a description of a rule that every company already follows.
Ultimately, I believe that clear limits offer a sensible answer. Employees should understand the difference between their work and their own activities, and companies should state what they allow. Personal use should not become the main purpose of a work computer. A clear agreement is better than leaving the question unanswered.
